Qualitative vs. Quantitative Methodology

31st July 2021

What is the Difference Between Qualitative and Quantitative Methodology? The difference between qualitative and quantitative dissertations can be seen in the meaning of each word:  qualitative comes from the Latin qualis, “of what kind?” while quantitative comes from the Latin quantus, “of what size?” Qualitative studies seek to understand subjective interrelationships while quantitative studies seek to establish and examine definitive numerical relationships.

Acing Your Dissertation Defense

26th March 2019

After you turn in your dissertation, you will have a defense. The actual format can vary among disciplines and schools, but, in general, it’s a one to two hour event in which you “defend” your work, answer questions, or present your findings to your committee and colleagues.

I wanted to write a book, but I had no idea how. I didn't know how to format it, or anything. All I had was an idea. My editor Lauren was great. She helped with the formatting, grammar, and sentence structure. She challenged me to write more and more and more. She gave great advice and offered many ideas. When you write, you write. You don’t see what others who read see. I needed to have an editor. My book is finished, and I am thrilled with the results. It’s more than I ever thought it would become. I’ll be starting on a new book shortly, and I will use Dissertation Editor again. I hope Lauren will still be there.
